The Upper East Regional Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Salifu Jonathan Abdallah, has commended the first-year performance of the Member of Parliament for Binduri, Issifu Mahmoud, describing it as more impactful than the four-year tenure of former MP Abanga.
Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr. Abdallah said Mr. Mahmoud’s first year in office has been marked by significant progress in infrastructure development, education support, and employment creation across the constituency, particularly in underserved communities.
He outlined several key infrastructure projects initiated or completed within the period, aimed at improving access to education, healthcare, and transportation. Among the notable interventions are the renovation of a six-unit classroom block at Aniisin, the renovation of the Zawse Health Centre and Zawse Primary School, and the construction of nurses’ accommodation at Kukparigu.
He further mentioned the ongoing construction of six-unit classroom blocks at Tempilim, the construction of a CHPS compound at Narango, and the renovation of the Kaadi CHPS compound to enhance primary healthcare delivery.
Road infrastructure has also received attention, with construction works ongoing on the Yarigugu–Bawku road to improve mobility and economic activity. In addition, plans are underway for the construction of a 24-hour market at Bazua, while street lighting projects have been implemented across the district to improve security and night-time visibility.
In the area of education, Mr. Abdallah noted that the MP has provided substantial support to students and schools. This includes the distribution of 5,458 mathematical sets to candidates preparing for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), financial support to 50 outstanding BECE students, and the provision of marker boards to all schools in the district.
Employment creation was another key area highlighted during the discussion. According to Mr. Abdallah, Issifu Mahmoud is the first MP in Binduri to actively lobby for employment opportunities for constituents in various state institutions and agencies.
As a result, residents have secured placements in the Free Zones Authority (5), Standards Authority (4), GETFund National Office (1), GETFund scholarships (36), Ghana Education Service teaching positions (4), National Security (21), and the Environmental Protection Agency (22).
Mr. Abdallah said these interventions demonstrate the MP’s commitment to inclusive development and human capital growth. He urged residents to continue supporting efforts to accelerate development in the Binduri Constituency, stressing that sustained collaboration between leadership and the people remains key to long-term progress.
