As families across Bolgatanga marked the festive season, Mr. and Mrs. Wahab Imoro chose to share their celebration with some of the town’s most vulnerable children, donating food and household items to the Mama Laady Orphanage Home.

The couple presented a range of essential supplies, including bags of rice, cooking oil, toiletries, detergents and biscuits, to support the daily needs of children living at the home.

Mama Laady Orphanage Home, also known as Mama Laady Children’s Home, is a charitable institution based in Bolgatanga. It operates as a subsidiary of Operation Mango Tree, a registered Ghanaian charity focused on the care and protection of vulnerable children.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Wahab Imoro said the donation was inspired by the spirit of the festive season and the need to remember children without family support.

“During this season, many families are able to take care of their children’s needs,” he said. “I thought it was important to also think about children here who do not have that support. If someone must think about them, why not let it start with me.”

Mr. Imoro added that the donation would not be a one-time gesture, pledging to return with additional support in the future to bring more relief to the children.

Receiving the items on behalf of the orphanage, social worker Gabriel Ayine Jnr expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful. He assured that the donated items would be used responsibly to improve the welfare of the children.

Ayine also encouraged individuals and organizations to support child welfare institutions, noting that collective acts of kindness can significantly improve the lives of vulnerable children.

The donation reflects growing community involvement in supporting orphanages and highlights the role of individual philanthropy in strengthening social care systems in the Upper East Region.
