Naab Pariyoung Kosom Yelzoya Asaga II, Overlord of the Nangodi Traditional Area, has renewed calls for the establishment of a BONABOTO College of Education in the Nabdam District, describing the initiative as critical to addressing long-standing educational deprivation in the area.
Speaking at the BONABOTO 25th Congress held at Gibeath Ha-Elohim in Damolg-Tindongo, the Paramount Chief said the proposed college was the result of years of collective sacrifice and community commitment, stressing that education remained the strongest foundation for sustainable development.
“This initiative is not an afterthought. It is the result of years of collective effort, sacrifice, and commitment by the people. Land has been made available, temporary facilities supported, and groundwork laid through communal resolve,” he stated.
According to Naab Pariyoung II, the establishment of a College of Education in Nabdam would not only train teachers but also empower the youth and strengthen the socio-economic fabric of the communities.
“Education remains the strongest foundation for development. A College of Education here will not only train teachers, but will strengthen communities, empower our youth, and secure the future of generations yet unborn,” he emphasised.
The Overlord made a passionate appeal to the BONABOTO Association to honour earlier commitments made to the Nangodi Traditional Area regarding the project, insisting that the matter was an internal one that required sincerity and unity.
“This matter has nothing to do with government. It is an internal BONABOTO matter, and therefore one that calls for sincerity, fidelity, and honour,” he said.
He warned that abandoning the original plan could undermine the credibility and unity of the association.
“To honour our original commitment is to protect the credibility of BONABOTO and preserve unity among our traditional areas,” Naab Pariyoung II added.
The BONABOTO Congress, which marked the association’s 25th anniversary, brought together traditional leaders, professionals, politicians and development advocates from across the Upper East Region to reflect on legacy, unity and future development.
