As Christians journey through the calendar year—from the fresh beginnings of January to the reflective close of December—Rev. Fr. John Bosco has urged believers to embrace a profound spiritual discipline: continual gratitude to God.
According to Fr. Bosco, thanksgiving should not be seasonal or occasional but a deliberate, daily commitment to recognizing and honoring God’s abundant blessings in every aspect of life.
“If you have never slept hungry, lacked clothing to wear, or walked barefoot, then you need to take a moment to show gratitude to God for His abundant blessings,” Fr. Bosco said.
He emphasized that recognizing God’s providence throughout the year is a duty of every Christian. Drawing on the teachings of the saints, Fr. Bosco noted that every moment of life is a gift—from the first breath taken in January to the final sunset in December.
Fr. Bosco explained that gratitude is a powerful spiritual practice that nurtures faith and joy. When Christians intentionally give thanks, he said, they deepen their relationship with God, acknowledging His presence in both triumphs and trials.
“In all circumstances, give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus,” he added.
He concluded by encouraging Christians to intentionally make time, even amid busy lives, to thank God for His blessings. The message was accompanied by fireworks organized by parishioners to usher worshippers into the New Year.
The sermon was delivered at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Soe Parish, on January 31, 2026, where Fr. Bosco also extended New Year congratulations to the congregation.
