Basic schools in the Gambrongo community have received a donation of dual desks through a community-led initiative spearheaded by Assemblyman Abiire Awineyesema.

The project, the first phase of a broader furniture support exercise, saw about GHS 46,200 spent on 77 new dual desks, alongside the repair of more than 3,000 existing desks to improve classroom conditions.

Distribution was guided by need and urgency, with Ayone Primary School receiving 40 desks, Gambrongo Primary School 20, and Gambrongo Junior High School 17.

Mr. Awineyesema emphasized that the initiative was purely community-driven, with no involvement from politicians or political parties. Organizers said the exercise aimed to enhance learning environments and support education in the area.

Plans for a second phase are already underway, which will target the distribution of about 70 additional desks. Ayone Junior High School may be included depending on assessed needs.

The donation has been widely welcomed by teachers, parents, and pupils, who noted that the new desks will improve classroom comfort and learning outcomes across the Gambrongo schools.
