The Assembly Member for the Feo Electoral Area in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region, Mr. Elvis Agongobono Nyaaba, has appealed to Ghana GOIL PLC, the Bongo District Assembly, government and other organisations to support development projects in the area.
He made the appeal during a ceremony at which Ghana GOIL PLC donated 15 beds to the Feo CHPS compound, stressing the need for collective efforts to drive development in the electoral area.
Mr. Nyaaba expressed gratitude to Edward Abambire Bawa, former Member of Parliament for Bongo and Group CEO of GOIL PLC, for his support toward a maternity ward project and for completing the facility.
“I think we have gone on for too long without adequate development. We need good roads, upgrading the Feo CHPS compound to a health centre, extension of electricity to Asebre, Asebdoone, Ayugte and Kunkua, fencing of the CHPS compound, renovation of the Akolposiga CHPS compound, posting of a permanent medical assistant to the Feo facility, re-roofing of a six-unit classroom block that was ripped off, street lights, among others, to drive development in the Feo electoral area,” he said.
He also highlighted the community’s expectations from the MP, mentioning the reshaping of Mishiso Street, fencing of Anseco Basic School and extension of electricity to parts of the community.
Other priority needs, he said, include a standard OPD block with ancillary facilities, staff accommodation, posting of additional health personnel and support schemes for brilliant but needy students. He emphasized the importance of dialogue and mutual respect in achieving development goals.
“Our community has been one of the leading areas in the district for years, especially in the border zone, and it is time to see more projects. I urge all stakeholders and community members to unite and work together so the Feo electoral area can stand tall among the rest,” he said.
Mr. Nyaaba noted that the appeal was expected to resonate with stakeholders, including government agencies and non-governmental organisations, who could help address the area’s long-standing challenges.
He further outlined steps to support development, including forming community-based committees to ensure inclusive decision-making, organising regular community meetings to gather feedback, and collaborating with local organisations and government agencies to secure resources. He also encouraged peer mentoring and knowledge-sharing to strengthen community capacity in project planning and implementation.
