MTN Ghana has launched its annual blood donation campaign, urging Ghanaians to demonstrate love and compassion by donating blood to help save lives.
Speaking at a blood donation exercise in the Upper East Region, Martin Yaw Kumobah, MTN Ghana’s Regional Team Lead, described blood donation as the most meaningful gift one can give on Valentine’s Day.
According to Mr. Kumobah, MTN Ghana chooses to mark Valentine’s Day with blood donation as a practical expression of love and appreciation for its customers and communities. He said the initiative goes beyond traditional celebrations to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
“We want to show that our commitment to love and care extends beyond providing network services. It also means giving back to the community and helping to save lives,” he stated.
The exercise, held at Bolgatanga Senior High School, Zamse Senior High School and Bolgatanga Technical Institute, aims to collect 400 pints of blood for the Upper East Regional Blood Bank. The campaign forms part of the MTN Foundation’s broader efforts to promote health and well-being.
Mr. Kumobah encouraged residents to make blood donation a regular habit.
“Every pint of blood donated has the potential to save multiple lives,” he said.
Since 2011, MTN Ghana has organized the nationwide blood donation exercise every February 14 to mark Valentine’s Day, a date globally associated with love and compassion. This year’s campaign, dubbed the “Save a Life” Blood Donation Campaign, targets the collection of 7,000 pints of blood nationwide.
Students who participated in the exercise praised the initiative and pledged to continue supporting the campaign while encouraging others to do the same.
