No drug can enlarge the penis — George Awuni warns

A health tutor at the Bawku Nursing Training College, George Awuni, has cautioned men against the use of unapproved aphrodisiacs, stressing that no medicine can permanently enlarge the penis.

Mr. Awuni made the remarks during a discussion on aphrodisiacs and their effects on the “Love Affairs” programme aired on A1 Radio in Bolgatanga.

Addressing listeners, he stated unequivocally that products widely advertised as penis enlargement drugs, including herbal mixtures, capsules, creams and bitters, have no scientific backing.

“There is no medicine that can enlarge the penis,” he said. “No scientifically approved drug or herbal product has been proven to permanently increase size.”

According to him, some products marketed as aphrodisiacs may temporarily improve erections due to stimulants or hidden pharmaceutical ingredients, but this should not be mistaken for enlargement.

“Erection is different from size,” he explained. “Some of these products may temporarily increase blood flow, but that does not change a person’s natural size.”

Mr. Awuni also raised concerns about the safety of many aphrodisiacs sold in markets and on the streets, noting that most are unregulated and may contain harmful substances.

“In public health practice, we have seen cases where individuals experience heart palpitations, dizziness and even liver complications after taking unapproved herbal mixtures,” he said.

He further indicated that psychological pressure and misinformation — often fueled by social media and pornography — have contributed to anxiety among men about body image and sexual performance.

“Most men who believe they are too small are actually within the normal medical range,” he noted, adding that anxiety itself can contribute to sexual performance challenges.

Mr. Awuni advised individuals experiencing sexual health concerns to seek medical attention at recognized health facilities rather than resorting to self-medication.

He emphasized that sexual wellbeing is influenced by overall health, including proper diet, regular exercise, adequate sleep and the management of conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.

The discussion generated significant reaction from listeners, many of whom called in to share their views and experiences.

Mr. Awuni concluded by urging the public to prioritize their health and rely on credible medical advice.

“There is no medicine that can enlarge the penis,” he reiterated. “If you have concerns, see a qualified health professional.”

Love Affairs is an interactive relationship talk show on A1 Radio that fosters conversations about love, relationships and personal growth. The programme airs every Thursday from 8:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
