The Founder of Light of Hope Foundation, Elias Ayinbila Apasiya, has urged rural women in Sumbrungu to remain committed to their small businesses.

Mr. Apasiya made the call during the organization’s Annual General Meeting, where the NGO, with support from friends, donated clothes and cooking oil to the Asoongoom women’s group.

The Light of Hope Foundation is a local non-governmental organization focused on empowering rural poor women and children in the Sumbrungu community and surrounding areas.

Mr. Apasiya emphasized the importance of managing resources wisely, advising the women to use the little support they receive to strengthen their basket weaving and petty trading businesses. He encouraged them to apply the skills they have acquired through previous training programmes to improve their economic conditions.

“The advice I would give to the women is that they should be serious about their work. All of them are engaged in basket weaving and petty trading, so the little that we offer them should be used judiciously,” he said.

“They should use it to buy straw and other materials needed for weaving baskets so they can earn income and improve their livelihoods,” he added.

The women expressed gratitude for the support and appealed for more financial assistance to help expand their businesses.

Meanwhile, the Foundation’s founder, Elias Apasiya, is calling on individuals and organizations to support the group’s efforts to empower rural women in the community.
