Ghanaian musician and philanthropist Samuel Asaa, popularly known as SamAiam, has urged Ghana’s youth to steer clear of drug abuse, describing it as a serious issue that demands immediate attention.

During a recent visit to Bolgatanga, SamAiam outlined his plans for 2026 and reiterated the importance of living drug-free.

The California-based musician, originally from Bolgatanga, emphasized his commitment to fighting drug abuse even as he scales back some of his annual activities in the Upper East Region.

“Our youth are the future leaders and must grow up free from drug abuse,” SamAiam said. “It is our responsibility, both as a country and as individuals, to guide and protect them so they can become better future leaders.” He made the remarks while speaking to Phatbone on A1 Radio’s E–Zone show.

In 2025, SamAiam and his team visited several schools—including Bolgatanga Senior High, Bolgatanga Girls, Gambibigo, Kongo, Zuarungu, Zamse, Gowrie Senior High Technical, and Bolgatanga Central Technical Institute—to educate students on the dangers of drug use.

According to SamAiam, his team, with support from the SamAiam Foundation, plans to visit more schools and communities to continue spreading the message.

He also praised the efforts of other individuals and groups tackling drug abuse, stressing that “the fight against drugs must be collective” and calling for collaboration and consistency.
