The Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central, Simon Aworigo, has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing poor road challenges affecting communities in the constituency.
Speaking at the 2026 Annual Peace and Development Festival of Navro-Pungu, held on April 5, Mr. Aworigo assured residents that efforts are underway to improve road infrastructure and enhance accessibility.
“I am not resting on this issue,” he said. “Just last week, following the Public Accounts Committee sitting, I personally engaged the Minister for Roads and requested an official schedule for key roads, including the Navrongo-Pungu Road. I expect to receive that timeline shortly.”
The MP also disclosed that he has engaged the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) coordinator to ensure that inner roads within the constituency are reshaped and drainage systems constructed ahead of the rainy season.
He said the intervention is aimed at preventing flooding and improving mobility for residents.
Beyond road infrastructure, Mr. Aworigo reiterated his broader commitment to development, particularly in underserved communities.
“My commitment to your basic needs remains unwavering,” he said. “We are working to extend electricity to parts of Pungu and other areas within the constituency that are not yet connected to the national grid.”
The festival, which brought together traditional leaders, residents, and other stakeholders, was held under the theme “Preventing Early Child Marriage and Promoting Girl-Child Education in the Navro-Pungu Traditional Area.”
Discussions at the event highlighted the role of infrastructure development in supporting education and improving living standards.
Residents welcomed the MP’s assurances and expressed hope that long-standing road challenges would soon be addressed. Poor road conditions in the area have for years affected transportation, access to markets, and the delivery of essential services.
With the rainy season approaching, many residents are looking forward to swift action on the promised interventions.
