The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appointed Dr. John Kingsley Krugu as one of the spokespersons for its Environment and Natural Resources Sector Committee, a move party supporters say will strengthen policy communication and engagement on environmental issues.

A document released by the party and approved by the National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council confirmed Dr. Krugu’s appointment alongside other members of the committee.

The document named Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong and Ing. William Gomashie as co-chairs, while Nana Akwasi Awuah, Dr. John Kingsley Krugu, and Akwasi Konadu were appointed spokespersons for the committee. Sarah Ataki was named secretary.

The appointment has been welcomed by party supporters, who described Dr. Krugu as experienced and capable of contributing to discussions on environmental sustainability and natural resource governance.

Supporters also praised the NPP’s 2024 presidential candidate, Mahamudu Bawumia, for nominating Dr. Krugu for the role, saying the decision reflects confidence in his leadership and expertise.

Dr. Krugu’s appointment is being viewed as recognition of his contributions to the party, particularly in areas related to environmental protection, climate resilience, and natural resource management.

Observers say the appointment comes at a time when environmental sustainability and climate-related challenges remain central to Ghana’s development agenda.

They believe Dr. Krugu’s communication skills and policy background will strengthen the party’s engagement on issues including mining, land degradation, water resource protection, and climate adaptation.

Party supporters and well-wishers have continued to congratulate Dr. Krugu following the announcement.
