The President of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Dr. Kofi Nsiah Poku, has urged businesses to adopt proper bookkeeping practices to improve growth, attract investment and strengthen financial management.

Dr. Nsiah Poku, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Kinapharma Limited, made the call during a one-day working visit to the Upper East Region.

Speaking at a meeting with AGI leadership in Bolgatanga, he said effective bookkeeping enables businesses to track performance, manage income and expenditure, and improve their chances of accessing loans and grants.

According to him, proper financial records also reflect discipline and professionalism within businesses.

He encouraged business owners, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, to adopt practical measures that support sustainable growth and investment opportunities.

“You only have to be doing the right things and put practical and achievable measures in place to ensure professionalism, growth and attract investments,” he said.

Dr. Nsiah Poku also reiterated his commitment to supporting businesses in northern Ghana, especially women-led enterprises, to grow and compete nationally and internationally.

He explained that the visit, his first to the Upper East Region since his election as AGI President, was intended to help the national leadership better understand the challenges confronting businesses in the region and engage government on possible support measures.

An executive member of AGI in the Upper East Region, Christopher Akuba, thanked Dr. Nsiah Poku for fulfilling his campaign promise to visit the region.

Mr. Akuba expressed confidence that the new leadership would help increase the number of thriving businesses and promote professional business practices in the region.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of the regional leadership to strengthening AGI’s presence and relevance in the Upper East Region.

Dr. Nsiah Poku was accompanied by AGI Chief Executive Officer Seth Twum-Akwaboah, Northern Sector Vice Chairman Freeman Abramani, and Northern Sector Manager Abdulai Shamsudeen.
