Kacstone Records has commissioned a newly constructed volleyball court at Paga Senior High School (Paga SHS) in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region, reaffirming its commitment to youth development and sports promotion.

The commissioning ceremony, held on June 6, 2026, was preceded by a cross-country competition involving schools in the district and a volleyball tournament featuring senior high schools from the Kassena-Nankana West District and the Kassena-Nankana Municipality.

In the girls’ category, St. John’s Integrated Senior High School emerged as champions after defeating Navrongo Senior High School, while Notre Dame Minor Seminary clinched the boys’ title with a victory over St. John’s Integrated. Kacstone Records provided brand-new jerseys for all participating schools to support the competition.

The event was climaxed by the official commissioning of the volleyball court by Ghanaian music legend Michael Adangba, who joined stakeholders, students, and community members to celebrate the milestone.

Delivering a speech on behalf of the Managing Director of Kacstone Records, Wenawome Duriyem Aborah, Mr. Raymond Adda said the project formed part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative aimed at supporting education and youth development.

He explained that Paga SHS was selected because of the infrastructural challenges facing the school since its establishment, noting that sports infrastructure remains critical to the holistic development of students.

“At Kacstone Records, we strongly believe that sports promote discipline, teamwork, leadership, physical fitness, and academic excellence. We are therefore confident that this volleyball court will serve as a platform for nurturing talents and inspiring students to reach their full potential,” he said.

Beyond the volleyball court, Kacstone Records also donated a range of sporting equipment to the school, including volleyball nets and balls, discus, shot put, softballs, javelins, a high jump set, and a table tennis board with accessories.

Mr. Adda disclosed that Kacstone Records had also begun efforts to renovate the girls’ dormitory block that was destroyed by fire in January 2021. According to him, blocks are already being moulded at the site to commence renovation works.

He further appealed for support towards the full absorption of Paga SHS into the boarding school system, as well as assistance for the construction of dormitories, laboratories, and a perimeter fence.

The Kassena-Nankana West Director of Education, Mary Magdalene Wompakea, commended Kacstone Records for investing in sports infrastructure and contributing to the holistic development of students.

“By investing in sports infrastructure, you are not building just a court of concrete and lights. You are building an arena for discipline, teamwork, resilience, and excellence. You are giving our students a place to grow beyond the classroom walls,” she stated.

She urged school authorities to make effective use of the facility to attract more students to the school and called on government and other stakeholders to expedite efforts toward securing boarding status for Paga SHS.

The District Chief Executive for Kassena-Nankana West, Stephen Aeke Akurugu, praised Kacstone Records for its continuous support to the district, describing the initiative as a significant investment in youth development.

He noted that the district has produced some of Ghana’s most celebrated footballers, including Abedi Pele and the Ayew brothers, and stressed the need to continue nurturing sporting talents through similar interventions.

“This is not the first support Kacstone Records has provided to the district and certainly will not be the last. Through sports, talents are discovered, developed, and exposed to greater opportunities,” he said.

The Headmaster of Paga SHS, Isaac Kweku Boena, expressed gratitude to Kacstone Records for its sustained support of the school.

“Kacstone Records has been doing a lot for us in infrastructure, sports, and other areas. We are very grateful for this latest intervention, which will greatly enhance sporting activities in the school,” he said.

Board Chairman of Paga SHS, Thomas Awiah, said the event was not only about commissioning a volleyball court but also about promoting the image of the school, fostering unity among students, and advancing the campaign for the school’s conversion into a boarding institution.

He called on government, educational authorities, and other stakeholders to support efforts to secure boarding status for the school, stressing that such a move would significantly improve enrolment and academic outcomes.

The commissioning of the volleyball court forms part of broader efforts by Kacstone Records to support education, sports development, and youth empowerment in the Kassena-Nankana West District.
