The SamAiam Foundation has extended its drug abuse and indiscipline awareness campaign to Junior High Schools (JHSs) in the Upper East Region, following a successful campaign in Senior High Schools (SHSs) last year.

After a 2025 campaign that reached eight Senior High Schools across the region, the Foundation, with approval from the Ghana Education Service (GES), has now begun a tour of JHSs in 2026.

Leading the team is the Founder and CEO of SamAiam Foundation and the Asaa Festival & Music Concert, Ghanaian musician, philanthropist, and U.S.-based businessman Samuel Asaa, known as SamAiam.

The Deputy CEO of the Foundation, Gladys Apuwine, is leading the school engagements on the theme: “Say No To Drugs, Save Yourself and Save Others.”

She took students through the health and future implications of drug abuse, urging them to avoid drugs, take their studies seriously, and become responsible citizens.

“Your purpose here in school and as young people is to be serious with your studies and do away with drugs.”

Schools visited so far include Preparatory JHS, Anglican JHS, St. John’s JHS, Abilba JHS, Tahiriya JHS, SDA JHS, Nurul Islamic JHS, Adabase JHS, St. Clement JHS, Awogya JHS, Methodist JHS, and Yekine SHS.

The Public Relations Officer of SamAiam Foundation, David Azure, also addressed the students. He linked drug abuse among the youth to indiscipline and urged them to remain focused and resist negative peer influence both at home and in school.

“By staying away from drugs in order to be better people in future, we must be disciplined,” he said.

Students who interacted with the team assured them that they would not allow friends to lure them into drug use and expressed appreciation for the education.

The Bolgatanga Municipal Education Service’s School Health Education Programme Coordinator, Madam Linda Anyigra, is accompanying the team on the tour.

Speaking on behalf of the GES and school heads, she thanked the SamAiam team and Mr. Asaa for the initiative. She urged students to take the message seriously, saying it would go a long way toward protecting their future.

The team is also appealing for support from individuals, corporate bodies, and stakeholders to enable the campaign to continue across the region. According to the Foundation, additional support will help reach more students and young people in various communities with the anti-drug and discipline message.
