Paul K. Yin has withdrawn from the race for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Upper East Regional Secretary position, citing the need to promote unity within the party ahead of its internal elections.
In a press statement, Mr. Yin described the decision as one of the most difficult he has made, acknowledging the overwhelming support and encouragement he received from delegates, friends, and party members throughout his campaign.
He expressed profound gratitude to his supporters for believing in his vision and standing by him during the contest.
“With a heart filled with gratitude and deep reflection, I wish to announce that I have taken the difficult decision to withdraw my candidature for the position of Upper East Regional Secretary,” he stated.
Mr. Yin explained that after careful reflection, he had come to appreciate that the strength of the NPP lies in its unity, adding that the collective interest of the party should take precedence over individual ambition.
“As this critical moment, I believe the greater cause is more important than any individual ambition,” he noted.
Following his withdrawal, Mr. Yin threw his full support behind fellow aspirant Daniel Kwame Gariba, describing him as a capable leader with the experience, dedication, and commitment needed to advance the fortunes of the party in the Upper East Region.
He urged all his supporters to transfer their support to Mr. Gariba to help build a stronger and more united regional party.
“I have decided to wholeheartedly endorse and throw my full support behind Hon. Daniel Kwame Gariba. I believe he possesses the experience, dedication, and leadership qualities needed to serve our party faithfully and move us forward,” he said.
Mr. Yin appealed to delegates and party faithful to rally behind Mr. Gariba, expressing confidence that a united front would position the NPP for future electoral success in the region.
He also thanked everyone who supported his campaign through prayers, encouragement, and confidence in his leadership, assuring them that he would remain committed to the growth and development of the party.
