Frafra gospel musician Faustina Awine has appealed to men to stop exploiting female musicians and other young women who seek their support, describing the practice as wrong and inhumane.
Speaking on Bolga FM’s Work and Happiness Show on Friday, July 24, 2026, Madam Awine said some men use financial assistance or promises of support to pressure vulnerable women into providing sexual favors.
She urged men to consider how they would feel if the victim were a member of their own family.
“If that girl were your sister or your relative, how would you feel knowing that someone took advantage of her simply because she needed help?” she asked.
According to Madam Awine, some men exploit women without fulfilling the promises they make. She said many young women lose opportunities after refusing such demands, while others suffer emotional trauma. In some cases, she added, the consequences are tragic.
Madam Awine advised young women, particularly those pursuing careers in music and other professions, to be cautious about the people they rely on for assistance. She encouraged them to carefully assess the intentions of anyone offering support and avoid situations that could compromise their safety, dignity or future.
She also called on society to create an environment where women can pursue their ambitions without fear of exploitation, stressing that genuine support should be offered with respect and without expectations of inappropriate favors in return.
