The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Roland Atanga Ayoo, has summoned the contractor working on the Sawaba CHPS Compound following delays in the execution of the project.
Mr. Ayoo disclosed this during an inspection of ongoing projects in the Bolgatanga Municipality, saying the Assembly had already issued a warning letter to the contractor over the slow pace of work.
According to the MCE, the contractor was among the first to begin work but has since fallen behind other projects being undertaken in the municipality.
“The delay in Sawaba, I don’t know, but the engineer says that they have issued a warning letter to the contractor. And I’ve asked that they should bring him to the office next week,” he stated.
“He started early enough, he was ahead of the rest but I cannot tell, basically, what happened. Rather, the one who started first has turned to be the last. But I think that I’ve asked the engineer to call him and then we’ll find out what is happening. I cannot tell for a fact what the problem is.”
Mr. Ayoo said the Municipal Assembly would meet the contractor to establish the reasons for the delay and determine how to get work back on schedule.
“Now, some of the projects, unfortunately, are witnessing a delay. One of them is the Sawaba CHIPS compound,” he said.
Meanwhile, the MCE announced that two Kindergarten blocks at Yorogo Gaabisi and Dorongo Aperiga have been completed and are awaiting handover to the Ghana Education Service.
“The Yorogo Gaabisi KG is completed. The Dorongo Aperiga KG is completed and very soon, they will be handed over to the Ghana Education Service,” he said.
The two facilities are expected to improve access to early childhood education in the beneficiary communities.
Mr. Ayoo reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to monitoring ongoing projects and ensuring that contractors complete them on schedule for residents to benefit.
