The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has supplied two articulated trucks loaded with fertilizer to support farmers engaged in dry-season vegetable and rice cultivation in the constituency.
The fertilizer, which arrived on Monday, August 10, 2026, is being provided under the MP’s Grassroots Integrated Agriculture Support Programme (GIASP).
According to the NDC constituency Communication Officer, Aboyom Job, the intervention is intended to support the cultivation of vegetables including pepper and tomatoes, as well as rice during the dry season.
He said the fertilizer forms part of the second phase of the GIASP, an initiative aimed at supporting agricultural production and creating livelihood opportunities for young people, women and other vulnerable groups within the constituency.
The programme has previously supported farmers with tractor services and other agricultural inputs, according to Mr. Aboyom. He said the latest fertilizer intervention is expected to help farmers sustain production beyond the main farming season and improve the availability of food in the constituency.
Mr. Aboyom said the MP’s agricultural support programme is also intended to contribute to year-round farming and reduce seasonal shortages of agricultural produce.
He added that the initiative seeks to increase food production in Bolgatanga Central while supporting farmers to improve their livelihoods. The fertilizer is expected to be distributed to farmers involved in the targeted dry-season vegetable and rice production as part of efforts under the programme.
The Communication Officer said agriculture remains a key area of focus under the GIASP, with the broader objective of supporting food production and livelihoods in Bolgatanga Central.
