The Bolgatanga East Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is mourning the death of its Deputy Women’s Organiser, Felicia Awuni, who died at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, announced her death to party members through the constituency’s official WhatsApp platform, describing the news as a deeply painful loss.

In an emotional message, Dr. Ayine said Madam Awuni’s death had “shook me to the core” and that he had struggled to come to terms with it.

Describing himself as the “father of the constituency,” the MP said the loss was particularly painful and urged party members to remain strong and pray for Madam Awuni and her bereaved family.

The Bolgatanga East NDC Secretariat subsequently issued a statement confirming her death and describing her as “a tireless, loyal and devoted servant” who dedicated herself to the party and the development of the constituency.

Madam Awuni served as Deputy Women’s Organiser and was reportedly being considered as a potential contender for the substantive position of Constituency Women’s Organiser.

That prospect could have seen her take on greater responsibility in mobilising women and strengthening the party’s grassroots structures in the constituency.

Her death has since prompted messages of condolence from party members, supporters and sympathisers who worked with or knew her.

The constituency is yet to announce details of her funeral rites. The party says further information will be communicated in due course.
