Twenty years after his enskinment as Paramount Chief of the Bongo Traditional Area, Naba Baba Salifu Atamale Lemyaarum says the district has recorded significant development but continues to struggle with gaps in education, healthcare, potable water, electricity and roads.
Speaking on Bolga FM’s Tinmaalgo Sanga programme, Naba Lemyaarum reflected on changes in the district since he was enskinned on May 17, 2006.
According to the Paramount Chief, Bongo faced significant infrastructure and development challenges when he assumed the traditional leadership position, particularly in water, sanitation, electricity, roads and markets.
He said the district began experiencing more visible development around 2010 as government and other stakeholders introduced projects and interventions aimed at improving living conditions.
Naba Lemyaarum said those interventions have contributed to changes in the district over the years, but maintained that significant development needs remain.
He identified education and healthcare infrastructure, access to potable water, electricity and roads as some of the areas requiring further attention.
The Paramount Chief therefore called on the government, development partners and other stakeholders to continue investing in the district to close the remaining development gaps and improve living conditions for residents.
