Earl International Group (GH) Gold Limited has denied reports linking one of its workers to the alleged shooting of an illegal miner at its underground mining area in Talensi in the Upper East Region.

The company described the publication by online tabloid Media Without Borders as false and misleading, insisting that neither its employees nor personnel of its security service provider, Reliable Protection Services (RPS), were involved in any shooting during the reported incident.

In a statement issued by its Corporate Affairs Department, Earl Group said management was informed of the incident by the Ghana Police Service and subsequently directed the Head of Operations of RPS to report to the Regional Police Command to assist with investigations.

The company said preliminary internal investigations indicated that dozens of illegal miners, many of whom were reportedly armed, invaded its underground mining area on the night of Thursday, October 29, 2026.

According to the statement, the intruders allegedly attacked personnel and destroyed critical operational infrastructure and equipment, including electrical cables, tricycles, ventilation fans and CCTV cameras.

Earl Group maintained that despite the attacks and destruction of property, security personnel exercised restraint in the interest of safety.

“At no point did any personnel of Reliable Protection Services discharge a firearm during the incident,” the company stated.

It further stressed that the alleged shooting did not involve any employee of Earl Group and categorically denied any involvement of its personnel or assigns.

The company said it remained committed to cooperating fully with the Ghana Police Service and would provide any necessary assistance to facilitate a thorough investigation.

Earl Group also criticised what it described as persistent publication of skewed, misleading and malicious reports by Media Without Borders, insisting that such reports would not distract it from its operational responsibilities.

It said its focus remained on its operations, the safety of its personnel, protection of its assets and contribution to Ghana’s mining industry.
