A group calling itself the Concerned Upper East Patriots is calling on some members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bawku Central constituency to remain resolute for president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to deliver his mandate levied on him by Ghanaians.

This appeal comes in a wake of threats from a pro-NPP group in Bawku Central constituency known as the Concerned Youth to part ways the NPP to other political parties should the president refuse to include their own in his government.

In a press statement, the Concerned Upper East Patriots stated that the erstwhile John Mahama government before exiting office created a huge mess for the new administration to manage and called for calm.

The release signed by its president, Andrew Atariwini urged members and loyal sympathizers of the elephant party in the Bawku central constituency and beyond “to pray and support the president and his team to discharge the mandate imposed on him by the Ghanaian people”.

The statement encouraged the NPP youth in Bawku central constituency “to calm down and make good use of the party structure[s] which is the ideal way of finding answers and solutions to whatever concerns and questions” they have.

Last week a pro-NPP group in Bawku central constituency in a statement said despite its loyalty and support to the NPP none of its active and competent constituents have been appointed to serve the Nana Addo government. They, therefore, gave the president up to the end of March to consider their plea or risk facing their wrath

Bellow is the full statement.

CONCERNED UPPER EAST PATRIOTS

RE: APPOINT A MINISTER FROM BAWKU CENTRAL OR FACE OUR WRATH
We have keenly followed the very passionate and nod-worthy articulation of the concerns by our brothers in the Bawku central constituency.
The Bawku central constituency just like other constituencies has and will continue to contribute to the success of the New Patriotic Party as it was the case in the 2016 general elections. In view of this the diverse and selfless contributions of some notable figures as identified by our comrades must not only be applauded but recognized and appreciated indeed.
However, with a government that is barely three months old, saddled with unimaginable mess left behind by the previous regime and with the huge expectations from the Ghanaian people relative to our promises, it is only appropriate for all loyal, party faithful at this time to pray and support the president and his team to discharge the mandate imposed on him by the Ghanaian people.
We are calling on our brothers to calm down and make good use of the party structure which is the ideal way of finding answers and solutions to whatever concerns and questions we may have. This protest though aimed at solving a problem may aggravate the issue by stimulating similar protest from other areas in the region or detract the government from the responsible to focus and solve the serious socioeconomic challenges in the constituency and the region at large.
As we strive to achieve an inclusionary government, we must never forget to remember that governance is a continuous process and everyone will have a role play at a point in time. Just like a football team coach, His Excellency, the President will have to select a team to start the game but it does not mean that is all the players that shall play the full time. Every party member is undoubtedly a shareholder in our party and we are unequivocally confident will be rewarded in due course. Therefore, it is important that we sit together and assess the contribution we can bring to the table to help the government achieve its development objectives. For it is only this way we can solve the problems the confronts us as a constituency and a region at large.
Brothers and sisters of our great party PLEASE CALM DOWN.

…SIGNED…
ANDREW ATARIWINI
