The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has today named James Kwesi Appiah as the new coach of Senior National Team, the Black Stars.
The decision was taken by the Executive Committee of the GFA after approving the report of the six-man coaching search committee.
Appiah will be handed a two-year contract and will start his duties on 1st May, 2017.
He will also take full charge of the Local Black Stars.
The Black Stars have been without a coach since former Chelsea coach Grant ended his stay after the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
A fourth place finish at the tournament in Gabon and an unimpressive start in the World Cup qualifiers looks to have sealed the fate of Grant.
Appiah, who led Ghana to the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil was sacked few months after the Black Stars failed to qualify from the group stage of that tournament amid controversy over bonuses that rocked the team’s campaign in South America.
