The Deputy Attorney General and Member of Parliament for Tempane Constituency, Hon. Joseph Kpemka has indicated that government is committed to complete all uncompleted roads and construct roads to connect towns and villages in the Upper East region.

According to him, completing these roads and constructing new roads will help in the development of the region and also open the region up for investments mainly in the agricultural sector.

The Lawyer who was speaking to the host of Daybreak Upper East, Christopher Asima, mentioned that the pace at which the Bolgatanga-Bawku road is being constructed indicates government’s commitment to complete all roads under construction and also construct more.

“There are funds already secured by the previous government for this road which has been neglected over the years. This is a Government of Ghana project and there is no way we will discontinue it. We have taken over from the previous government and will ensure that the road is constructed.”

He was, however, worried about reports that suggest that the contract for the construction of the Bolatanga-Bawku roads is divided between two Construction companies; a move he believes will create a dichotomy between the roads to be constructed.

“I read a write-up and I will clarify with my father the regional minister before I go back. The write up said that a certain stretch of that road was given to a different contractor but I am not too sure about that, I think Mawums or something, a certain stretch, I think stretching from Black Volta to Bolga. If it is true, I think we need to re-negotiate it and add it to Queiroz Galvao, so that we don’t have a dichotomy between the road that will be constructed by Queiroz Galvao and the road that will be constructed Mawums.”

He was, however, saddened that asphalting of the Bolgatanga township roads came to a sudden stop after the December 2016 election.
