President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the District Chief Executive position in the Kassena-Nankana West District in Upper East region, Clement Dandori could not be confirmed.

The District Assembly even before the Confirmation Exercise, also could not elect a Presiding Member and so the Assembly had to agree for a member to preside over the confirmation exercise on Wednesday, May 10 at Paga.

The Kessena-Nankana District, like the Kassena-Nankana Municipality, have always had problems in selecting Presiding Members and confirming DCE Nominees.

The Nominee, Clement Dandori polled 34 “YES” votes and 28 “NO” votes. Four Assembly members were absent, bringing the number of Assembly members present and voted to 62. The Nominee needed minimum of 41 “YES” votes to go through.

The Kassena-Nankana West District Assembly is made up of 46 Elected and 20 Government Appointees.

Clement Dandori, prior to his nomination was the immediate Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party for the Chiana-Paga Constituency in the 2016 Parliamentary Election.

A sad regional minister, Rockson Bukari noted that delay in the confirmation process will make the development of the area move at a tortoise pace.

He, therefore, called on District yet to confirm their Municipal and District Chief executives to consider the development of their Districts first in order to give the nominees one touch confirmation
