Twenty four assembly members of the Kasena-Nankana West District Assembly on Friday voted against Thomas Adda Dalu, the president’s nominee for recommendation as District Chief Executive.

Mr. Dalu obtained 40 votes out of the 64 assembly members, representing a percentage of 62.6 percent as against 67 percent needed to enable him be confirmed as DCE.

The result means that, Mr. Dalu could not obtain the supposed two-third of the votes cast by the assembly members to become the District Chief Executive.

Before voting began on Friday, Upper East Regional Minster, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru, who graced the occasion with his deputy, Daniel Syme and some party supporters pleaded with the Assembly members to honor the president’s nominee by voting massively for him.

However, the Ministers plea were not enough to convince all the assembly members not to reject Thomas Dalu as twenty four of them voted against his return as DCE after already serving a four- year term.

The election to confirm Mr. Dalu as the DCE was adjourned to the 22nd July, 2013 by the Presiding member of the district, Dominic Aboziah.
