Group calls for deportation of all Chinese Nationals in Gbane

A group calling itself Patriotic Citizens of Gbane for Peace and Development, has called for an end to the ‘illegal Mining” activities of Shaanxii mining and an immediate deportation of all Chinese nationals in the Gbane traditional area.

At a press conference on Friday May 26, 2017, they expressed enormous dissatisfaction over the actions and activities of the Shaanxii Mining Company Limited; describing their operations as a threat to livelihood of citizens and other neighbors living in the Gbane traditional area.

The group could not fathom why Shanxii will defy orders of the traditional council of the area and that of the Lands minister to continue digging in search of gold

PATRIOTIC  CITIZENS OF GBANE-FOR PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT-CALL FOR TOTAL STOPAGE OF SHAANXI MINING OPERATIONS AND THE IMMEDIATE DEPORTATION OF ALL CHINESE NATIONALS FROM THE GBANE-TRADITIONAL AREA.

Good day, ladies and gentlemen, fellow citizens of Gbani and invited guest.

We the patriotic citizens of Gbane wish to un-equivocally state that the actions of shaanxi mining co. ltd are discouraging and threatens the livelihood of citizens and other neighbors.

Following the death of some members of the community which was allegedly caused by the Shaanxi mining operations, the subsequent order by the minister for Land and Natural resources asking Shaanxi to suspend their operations has been flouted.

We the citizens having been aggrieved by their actions are asking for the immediate deportation of all Chinese nationals resident in Gbani because they are irresponsible and have no respect for authorities.

CASES IN POINT ARE:

1. That Shaanxi Mining Company Limited is a support service group which is to serve on a 50acre concession of land owned by Alhaji Awudu Paad and Hon. Charles Taliug Ndanbon. Meanwhile, Shaanxi Company Limited is mining area over 25acres, which has drawn dispute among concession holders namely Obuasi, Bayanka, Gbandana etc concessions.
2. That Shaanxi resumed their operation on the 9^th day of May, 2017 shortly after the minister’s order. Chinese nationals are seen working every day, the (HRM) Mr. Anokye and one other often inform some residents to take care because they are to blast their explosives with the excuse that the minister has permitted them to work and cater for the security personal deployed to protect their properties (allegedly).
3. That Shaanxi and their allies have engage “Six Macho Men” to guide and protect them against strange government forces which would like to enforce the order of the Minister.
4. That Shaanxi is in dispute with the membership of Yenyeya mining group, Gold Coat and Bayanka group which is pending in the Bolgatanga High Court which is threatening the peace of the area.
5. And that following the dispute between Gbani and Shaanxi over the land lease of 71.16acres for residential purpose is been used for mining activities (i.e.) building mining shaft within the area.
6. Shaanxi has failed or refused to pay the valued sum of Two Million Eight Hundred and Forty Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢2,845,000.00) since April 30^th 2013. After breaching the MOU between Shaanxi Management and Gbani Chief on the said land lease.
7. Again its well noted that Tongo Rana Ordered the stoppage or suspension of all formsor mining in the Gbani area but Shaanxi- Chinese are still working underground every day and night. This shows how they disrespect authorities.

10. Pay adequate compensation to affected landowners and farm owners whose Shea and other crops have been destroyed, which have been flouted Ref. letter MC/SSMP/UER/49, dated 5^th October, 2012.
11. Shaanxi- Chinese as usual of them have built a water pump machine house which is about 30metres from the bank of the White Volta, which is against the mining laws.
12. Again we are reliably informed that Shaanxi mining Co. Ltd had applied for 13.84km of land at Gbani as large scale concession, without the notice of the traditional authorities.
13. Shaanxi is known to be involved in large scale galamsey mining activities and need to be flashed out from Gbani. Moreover Shaanxi is killing Gbani Community with their operations, they are irresponsible mining Company.

SOLUTION

1. Shaanxi must respect the order of the Minister and the Tongo Rana now.
2. Must pay full cost of the land lease to them as residential. (with interest)
3. Must compensate landlords and farm owners on their operational areas.
4. The revocation of the license, because its crystal clear that they have violated the mineral and mining support services regulations 2012, LI2174.

NB:

Gbani and its environs are under threat and possible violence looming because of the operations of the Shaanxi Chinese.
