President Akufo-Addo has said he is rather committed to protecting the customs and traditions of the country and is not involved in any conspiracy to legitimise same-sex marriage in the country.
The President said this while addressing a cross-section of the media at the Flagstaff House in Accra.
He said: “I’m not involved in any conspiracy to promote homosexuality”.
The President came under several attacks especially from the opposition National Democratic Congress after he said in an interview with Al Jazeera journalist, Jane Dutton, that the practice could be legalized if Ghanaians called for it.
“…until there is a strong call by the society for this to be done, there is no way the laws will be changed.”
But addressing the media today, the President said the social and cultural environment does not give room for such a thing to be legalized indicating that he is committed to protecting the customs and traditions of the country.
