The Ghana Education Service has terminated the appointments of recruits with Banking, finance and marketing backgrounds it earlier engaged as teaching staff.

This was made known during an interview with the Upper East regional director of education, Mrs. Patricia Ayiko on Day-Break Upper East on A1 Radio, Thursday.

According to the regional education boss, the order was given from “Headquarters” instructing the immediate abortion of all appointments to that effect.

Mrs. Ayiko explained that the GES realized recruits with such educational background will be of no use in its quest to offer good education.

“We were called to headquarters and they told us that banking and financing and marketing, we should return their appointment letters, they are not going to pick them because they don’t know what they (recruits) are going to do.

She however declined to give further details into the matter when she was asked why the GES would engage recruits with such qualifications if they were not needed.
