Management and Staff of Bank of Africa in Bolgatanga have jointly committed themselves to sponsor the rehabilitation of the Children’s Ward of Upper East Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga. The initiative, according to the Bank forms part of its yearly initiative to give back to the society.
Bolgatanga Branch Manager of the Bank of Africa, Tofik Lawal, explained the scope of the initiative to a1radioonline.com and assures the Bank and its Staff will embark on more social intervention projects in 2019.
“This is a Staff initiative implemented in response to societal need. Bank of Africa Staff at the beginning of the year 2018 decided to give back to the society, so went in search of projects to support and the Upper East Regional hospital was identified as a needy institution. Our assessment of the hospital’s facility revealed a dire need for an urgent rehabilitation of the children’s ward.”
Generally, the Bank believes that, its employees have their own quota to contribute to societal development and therefore encourages participation of its Staff in impactful projects to address social concerns. What we have just seen is the joint contribution of the Staff of Bank of Africa and the Bank to give back to society.
Is originally, meant to be donation of beds to the Children’s ward, to help reduce the no bed syndrome that has bedeviled Health Sector. However, the scope changed when we realized that the situation was more complex than what we set out to resolve. The project now includes: complete tiling of the floor of the children’s ward, replacement of nets, painting of interior and exterior of the ward, painting of ceiling and provision of 50 new medical beds. Bank of Africa believes that, with the completion of the rehabilitation works, the Children’s Ward will now have a more conducive ambiance for health delivery.” Mr. Lawal said.
However, the total estimated cost of the project runs into over Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc100, 000.00) cedis.
