The Inspector-General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh, has given the assurance that the police will do everything possible to combat the increasing activities of armed robbers in the Upper East Region.

He embarked on a working tour of the region on Wednesday; visiting some of the crime scenes to ascertain first-hand knowledge on the situation.

Speaking at Pusu-Namongo, one of the hotspots in the Upper East region where in recent times, there have been reports of recurring highway robberies and killings, Mr. Oppong-Buanuh said “I’ve been to 2 other places where we have had recent robberies and I’m going to sit down with the regional police command and re-strategise and see what measures to put in place to ensure that these {criminal acts} do not occur.”

Since arriving in the region with his team, Mr. Oppong-Buanuh said he observed that the police were on the ground; and indicated his readiness to support the regional command to stem the tide.

“I will sit down with them again and we’ll review their plans and see what assistance we can give them to ensure that the crimes do not occur again. I can assure the general public that we’re doing whatever we can; and we’ll go to whatever length to ensure that the public is made safe.” He emphasized.

The IGP was accompanied on his tour by the Director-General of Operations and his deputy; as well as some other senior officers from the police headquarters.
