On Sunday, September 14, 2025, the Butt-tis Buuri Scholarship Fund, founded by Dr. John Kingsley Krugu, entered a new phase of leadership with the inauguration of a five-member Board of Trustees.
The ceremony, held in an atmosphere of purpose and celebration, marked a smooth transition from the outgoing board to the incoming members, ensuring continuity in service and impact.
In his address, Dr. Krugu commended the outgoing board for their dedication in laying a strong foundation for the Fund. In recognition of their contributions, each member was honored with a citation and a token of appreciation.
He explained that the new board was constituted on an institutional basis, comprising representatives from the Ghana Education Service, Kusanaba Technical Institute, two non-governmental organizations, and a student representative.
Looking ahead, Dr. Krugu announced a major educational intervention. In partnership with the Ghana Education Service, the Fund will select 20 needy but academically outstanding candidates from the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)—10 males and 10 females—to benefit from scholarships. Each beneficiary will receive GHS 1,000 to support their transition to Senior High School.
Some prospective beneficiaries expressed excitement about the opportunity, describing it as a “gateway to a brighter future” and pledging to one day give back to their communities. For many, the scholarship symbolizes both relief from financial barriers and renewed hope of pursuing higher education.
The event, while celebrating past achievements, also renewed commitment to educational empowerment. Dr. Krugu reaffirmed the vision of the Butt-tis Buuri Scholarship Fund as not just a financial intervention, but a community-driven initiative aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty through education.
With the new board in place, the Fund is poised to expand its reach and deepen its impact, ensuring that more young people from rural communities gain access to quality education and opportunities for growth.
The inauguration underscored the vital role of collective responsibility in shaping the future, as the Butt-tis Buuri Scholarship Fund continues to invest in the dreams of the next generation.
