The Builsa North Municipal office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), in collaboration with the regional NHIS team, has launched a public outreach effort at the Sandema market to promote digital access to health insurance services.

The initiative, called the “Storm Campaign,” sought to educate residents, traders and marketgoers on how to use the MyNHIS mobile application and the NHIS short code for basic services.

Municipal NHIS Manager Sunday Akpitipola said the campaign aims to bridge the digital divide and empower residents to manage their health insurance more conveniently.

“With the MyNHIS App and the *929# short code, residents can renew their membership, check validity and access services without visiting our offices,” Akpitipola said.

He encouraged community members to take advantage of the tools as the campaign moves to other areas.

“The Storm Campaign is a vital step in ensuring that our community understands the benefits of NHIS and how to leverage technology for better health outcomes. We are committed to making health insurance accessible to everyone in the Builsa North Municipality,” the Municipal Director of NHIS said.

Campaign teams also addressed common misconceptions about digital platforms and stressed data privacy, assuring users that their personal health information remains protected.

The “Storm Campaign” forms part of a nationwide effort by the NHIS to digitize service delivery and narrow the urban–rural technology gap. Officials say the Builsa North NHIS office plans to extend similar outreach to smaller communities and schools in the coming weeks.
