The Talensi Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Augustine Mmi-oni Guure, has expressed optimism about the yet-to-be-presented 2026 Budget, describing it as a step toward economic recovery and social relief for many Ghanaians.

Speaking in an interview on A1 Radio, Mr. Guure said the budget’s provisions suggest that the economy is gradually stabilizing, with renewed hope across various sectors.

According to him, the government is set to address long-standing challenges faced by newly posted teachers and health workers, including nurses and midwives, who have gone months without pay.

“If your brother or sister has been teaching for months without pay, this budget brings good news,” he said. “You can now expect them to be cushioned financially — and maybe even help you once in a while.”

Mr. Guure also highlighted improvements in fiscal management, noting that the cedi has stabilized and the country is meeting or exceeding several key economic targets. He added that the release of District Assembly Common Funds would pave the way for new infrastructure projects, including schools, CHPS compounds, and hospitals.

In the agricultural sector, he commended the government’s upcoming Feed Ghana Project, which aims to empower young farmers and promote sustainable agriculture.

“This initiative will lift many young people out of poverty,” he said. “As a farmer myself and a PhD candidate in Sustainable Agriculture, I see great potential in this project.”

Mr. Guure further mentioned a forthcoming livestock project intended to boost poultry farming and create employment.

“Already, many young people have registered and are preparing their modern farms,” he said, adding that such interventions could revitalize rural economies and reduce unemployment.

He concluded by encouraging Ghanaians to remain hopeful, emphasizing that “the signs of progress are becoming evident, and the best is yet to come.”
