The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bongo, Mr. Joseph Akasake Abaah, has outlined significant progress made in the education sector of the district, particularly in the area of infrastructure development, describing them as conscious and deliberate efforts to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr. Abaah said that since assuming office, his administration has prioritized educational infrastructure to address long-standing deficits in basic and technical education across the district.
“When we talk about infrastructure, a lot has been done,” he noted. “We have handed over a kindergarten project at Adaboya. The construction has progressed to an advanced stage, almost at the roofing level.”
He further revealed that a six-unit classroom block has been successfully handed over to the people of Bongo, while a three-unit classroom block has also been completed and handed over to the Namoo community.
According to him, these projects are aimed at reducing overcrowding and creating a conducive learning environment for pupils.
Beyond basic education, the DCE highlighted key interventions at the Bongo Technical Institute, where the Assembly, with support from the Coastal States Stability Mechanism (CSSM), donated a generator and essential learning equipment.
The donated items include tools and equipment for the Home Science, Electrical, Fashion and Design, and related departments.
“The generator is very critical,” Mr. Abaah explained. “The school is located in a rocky, outskirt area, and power supply from the national grid is often unstable. The generator will help sustain practical lessons and improve effective teaching.”
He clarified that while the generator and technical equipment were funded through CSSM support, the classroom blocks and kindergarten projects were financed through the District Assembly Common Fund.
“All these infrastructure projects were initiated after I took over as DCE,” he stressed, adding that contractors have already been handed the sites and are working on them at various stages of completion.
Mr. Abaah reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening education in the Bongo District, noting that improved infrastructure remains a cornerstone for human capital development and long-term socio-economic growth in the area.
