Nana Akufo-Addo’s win in the just ended election was divine and defies all political science theories, a member of the communication team of the National Democratic Congress in the Upper East Region has said.

President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress will be exiting on January 7, 2017, after they lost to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) which polled 53.85% in the just-ended election.

The aftermath of the election has seen party sympathisers and officials blaming each other for the overwhelming defeat to the opposition party, NPP.

Speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East show, Thursday, Mr. John Paul Danka mentioned that the defeat of the NDC was divine and nothing could be done about it regardless of the effort invested into the party’s campaign.

“What happened on the 7 of December in Ghana is divinity, it is divine, it is not human. There is nothing the NDC and the candidate didn’t do. The NDC did everything humanly possible, traditionally, religiously, spiritually possible and if it was per the dictates of man, the NDC would have won but the NPP’s win was divine. We had the best campaign, This was one of the best campaigns in the country in the fourth republic.”

He added that the party’s loss has defied all political theories saying “even the defeat of President John Dramani Mahama has defied all political theories. If you observe the interviews of most of the political science lecturers, you will realise that most of them have gone beyond the paradigm of typical political theories and of what political science would have been speaking to,” he said.

Mr. Danka noted that there are accusations and counter-accusations especially at the national level but to him, this was not the time for accusing each other because Ghanaians spoke and until evidence to the contrary is provided, the party needs to focus on building itself for the next election.
