The Upper East Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Ayinbisa, has clarified that Peter Anyorka is not a member of the party’s regional communications team and should therefore not represent the party on radio programmes.

Mr. Ayinbisa made the clarification following concerns raised about the absence of Mr. Anyorka from Bolga FM’s “Zina Yela” political show after the party’s presidential primaries.

Mr. Anyorka, who previously served as the Upper East Regional Communications Officer for the campaign team of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, was one of the prominent voices of the NPP on radio discussions in the region.

However, Mr. Ayinbisa explained that Mr. Anyorka’s earlier appearances on radio were not based on his membership in the official regional communications structure.

“Peter Anyorka is not a registered and recognized member of the regional communications team,” he stated. “He was heard speaking on radio, but that does not make him a member of the official team. Per the list I have, he is not a member of the communication team.”

According to him, the party has a structured communications team responsible for representing it on media platforms, and only recognized members are assigned to such roles.

“There are many capable individuals within the party who are not part of the communications team and are ready to represent the NPP, so I couldn’t have denied him the opportunity to speak for the party. But what I want to put across is that he is not a member of the communications team and going forward, he can’t represent the party,” he noted. “We have to work with those officially mandated to speak for the party.”

Mr. Ayinbisa further indicated that the decision to exclude Mr. Anyorka from recent radio discussions was based purely on organizational considerations and not linked to his political affiliations during the primaries.

“It is not about which candidate you supported. It is about structure and discipline within the party,” he emphasized.

The clarification comes amid ongoing discussions about the role of party communicators following the primaries that saw Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerge as the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
