The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region has extended a goodwill message to candidates sitting for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), urging them to demonstrate discipline, confidence, and determination throughout the examination period.

In a statement issued ahead of the nationwide examination scheduled from May 4 to May 11, 2026, the party conveyed its best wishes to all candidates, particularly those in the Upper East Region, describing the examination as a critical stage in their academic journey.
“We wish all BECE candidates the very best of luck and success in their impending examinations,” the statement said, noting that candidates had undergone nine years of basic education and were adequately prepared.

The statement, signed by the Upper East Regional Communication Officer of the NPP, Ayinbisa A Peter, encouraged candidates to remain focused and approach each paper with courage and a strong sense of purpose.

“As you begin your exams, approach each paper with determination and confidence,” it stated, while also urging candidates to remain calm, mentally alert, and guided by discipline throughout the examination period.

The party cautioned candidates against engaging in examination malpractice, stressing that integrity is key to academic success and long-term achievement.“Examination malpractice is prohibited, and candidates should avoid any actions that could jeopardise their future,” the statement emphasised.

The NPP further urged candidates to adhere strictly to all examination rules and regulations to ensure a smooth and credible process. The party also acknowledged the efforts of teachers across the region, commending them for their dedication in preparing students despite challenging working conditions.

“We commend your teachers who have worked tirelessly over the years to prepare you for this important stage of your academic journey,” the statement added.

Highlighting government interventions in the education sector, the NPP referenced the Free Senior High School policy, introduced under former President Nana Akufo-Addo.

According to the party, the policy continues to expand access to secondary education by ensuring that students who perform well in the BECE can enrol in senior high schools across the country without financial barriers.

The party concluded its message by encouraging candidates to remain hopeful and committed, assuring them that their hard work would yield positive results.

“With hard work and determination, you will succeed. The future belongs to you,” the statement noted, while wishing candidates good health throughout the examination period.
