The Paga Youth Movement (PAYOM) has commended Dr. Ama Antwiwaa Adu-Appiah for her dedication and sacrifice in serving at the Paga Hospital in the Kasena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region.
According to the youth group, Dr. Adu-Appiah remains the only doctor who accepted posting to the hospital and has continued to provide healthcare services to the people of Paga despite the challenges associated with working in a rural community.
Chairman of PAYOM, Wenawome Aborah, made the commendation during the opening ceremony of the 5th Edition of the PAYOM Inter-Community Unity Games held at the Paga Town Park.
Addressing participants, opinion leaders and residents, Mr. Aborah praised the medical doctor for her commitment to humanity and service to the community.
“We especially commend Dr. Ama Antwiwaa Adu-Appiah, the only doctor who accepted posting to the Paga Hospital and continues to serve our people with dedication and sacrifice. Your commitment to humanity and service to our community deserves recognition and appreciation from all of us,” he stated.
Mr. Aborah noted that the contribution of individuals, institutions, and government agencies continued to support the development of the Paga community and urged residents to unite for communal growth.
He called on the youth to continue promoting peace, tolerance, and communal labour while working together to fight drug abuse and protect public property.
The PAYOM Chairman further assured visitors, investors, and workers living in Paga that the community remained peaceful, welcoming, and hospitable.
“To all those who have come from different places to work, live, or invest in Paga, we assure you that Paga is a peaceful and welcoming community with hospitable and hardworking people. We value diversity, coexistence, and mutual respect,” he said.
Mr. Aborah also commended women in the community for actively participating in the social games organized as part of the event, including penalty shootouts, sack races and tug of peace activities.
He urged the youth to remain committed to the vision and activities of PAYOM to help build a cleaner, peaceful and more developed Paga for future generations.
