Earl International Group Ghana Gold Limited has donated a brand new double-cabin pickup vehicle to the Talensi District Assembly to support the Assembly’s operations and improve service delivery in the district.
The vehicle was officially handed over on Thursday during a brief ceremony attended by officials of the assembly and other stakeholders in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region. Earl International Group Ghana Gold Limited is a Chinese large-scale mining firm operating in the Talensi district, employing approximately 1,113 Ghanaians as permanent staff, with 80 percent of the workforce coming from the host district.
Speaking at the event, General Manager of Earl International Group Ghana Gold Limited, Liu Jin Tao, said the donation was a demonstration of the company’s commitment to supporting institutions and communities within its operational area.
“Earl International Group Ghana Gold Limited is honored to stand with you this morning for the official handing over of a brand new double-cabin pickup vehicle to the Talensi District Assembly,” he stated.
According to him, the donation followed an appeal by the Assembly for vehicular support after challenges with mobility affected its ability to undertake field visits and monitoring activities.
“A few weeks ago, the Talensi District Assembly made a compelling request for vehicular support. Beyond the request itself, it highlighted a pressing challenge: the Assembly’s operational effectiveness was being hampered by the lack of a roadworthy vehicle for field visits and monitoring,” he explained.
Mr. Liu said management of the company, under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Wei Xing, approved the request without delay because of the importance of supporting governance and development efforts in the district.
“We understood that equipping the Assembly with reliable mobility directly strengthens service delivery to the people of Talensi,” he added.
The General Manager expressed hope that the vehicle would help bring governance closer to the people and accelerate development across the district.
He noted that the donation formed part of the company’s broader commitment to the development of Talensi through investments and social interventions.
Mr. Liu cited the construction of a hospital for the Gbane community and the rehabilitation of the Sheaga-to-Mining Site road as some of the projects being undertaken by the company to improve the wellbeing of residents.
“Our vision is simple: as Earl International grows, Talensi grows with us,” he stressed.
He further urged the Assembly to ensure proper maintenance of the vehicle to enable it serve the district effectively for many years.
Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the Assembly, the Talensi District Chief Executive, John Milim Nabwomya, expressed appreciation to the company for the timely support.
“Thank you very much, Earl International Group Ghana Gold Limited. We are extremely excited this morning for this gesture,” he said.
Mr. Nabwomya disclosed that the Assembly had appealed to the company for support only a few days earlier and was impressed by the swift response.
“Just a few days ago, we actually made an appeal, and so they have come out with this donation to help the Assembly’s operations,” he remarked.
The DCE clarified that the vehicle was not meant for his personal use or for the exclusive use of the District Coordinating Director, but rather for the work of the entire Assembly.
“It is not a car for the District Chief Executive’s personal use, it is not a car for the reserve use of the District Coordinating Director, it is a car for the Assembly. All of us can use it for the benefit of the Assembly,” he stated.
Mr. Nabwomya assured the company of the Assembly’s continued support for its operations and reiterated the need for partnership in promoting development in the district.
“As Earl International Group Ghana Gold Limited grows, Talensi also grows. We will indeed grow together,” he added.
