Upper East Regional Women Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fawzia Yakubu Abagnamah, has launched her campaign for re-election by reaching out to 200 widows in the Tempane District.
Madam Fawzia, who is seeking a second term in office, presented each of the widows with half a piece of cloth and financial support as part of activities marking the launch of her campaign.
She said the decision to begin her campaign with the widows reflected her commitment to women and communities across the Upper East Region.
According to her, the gesture was a continuation of support she had extended to women across all 15 constituencies in the region.
In a message announcing the campaign launch, Madam Fawzia said she chose to begin her political journey with women whose strength and resilience continued to sustain their communities.
She said her main request from the widows was their prayers as she sought another mandate to lead the party’s women’s wing in the region.
“I went to ask for one thing in return — their prayers,” she said, adding that she wanted to begin the second phase of her political journey with the blessings of women who understood what strength meant.
Madam Fawzia has adopted the message “Proof, not promises” as she seeks to retain her position as the NDC Regional Women Organizer.
The NDC regional executive elections are scheduled for November 14 and 15, 2026, across the country. Madam Fawzia is number one on the ballot as she seeks re-election.
