Regentropfen College of Applied Sciences, ReCAS over the weekend held a matriculation ceremony for its first badge of students.

In his welcome address, the registrar of the school, Thomas Azure was optimistic that the current number of students, 49 will quadruple come August/September 2017.

“Whiles a pessimist will find this figure so low that he will doubt whether ReCAS will be able to attain the academic height and excellence it has set out to achieve, those of us from the Regentrofen family are very optimistic that come August/September 2017 admission period, the number of students would have quadrupled God willing”.

Although the school is situated in a rural area and at a humble beginning, the registrar added that the school aims at nothing short of excellence and urged students to work hard not only to become employees after completion but employers.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the school council, Mensah Seneadza reminded the pioneer students to build a Trans-generational mind-set that will apply critical thinking to solve community problems in a sustainable manner.

“I wish to remind you that you are the pioneer students, who form a key part of the foundations being laid for the thousands of students who will be trained by this University College. The curriculum and training programs are designed to build and develop you not as mere graduates, but as change agents, community transformers, applied inventers and national leaders to solve community and national level challenges for global impact. A building can only be as strong as its foundations. I hereby challenge you to apply yourselves fully towards achieving excellence in your academic endeavors. As bearers of the relay baton, you are the pacesetters for this college, and the entire nation will look up to your records, which will form part of the foundational reputations of this college”, he added.

In a speech read on his behalf by Clement Ongmiba, the President of the school, Fr. Dr. Moses Asaa Awinongya stated that “the reality of a better tomorrow begins in a dream today”.

According to him, the expectation of the school from students is hard-work, discipline, critical and analytical thinking as well as developing soft skills that make them become responsible citizens.

“We are glad to say that apart from our work and study program, 30% of the students who are going to be matriculated today are on scholarship offered by Regentropfen Education Foundation and the Founder of ReCAS. We look forward to Ghanaians and firms joining the train to take up mentorship of some of our students and to help us financially to give scholarship to brilliant but needy students. The development of Ghana depends on us and we can make it”, Fr. Awinongya added.

He mentioned that even though the promise to get the road from Bongo to Namoo put in a good shape for easy access has not been honoured, the school’s dream is to see at least the culverts worked on before the raining season begins.

But in his response, the regional minister for Upper East, Rockson Bukari said the road will surely be fixed.

ReCAS which is situated in Kansoe, Namoo in the Bongo district of the Upper East region was accredited in March 2016 to run as a tertiary institution. The school has two admission periods, August/September and January/February and offers diploma and bachelor programs in department of accounting, business administration, basic education, computer science and agriculture for social change.
