The Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party in the Northern region, Seidu Sulley has debunked claims that the NPP’s ‘Kandahar boys’ clashed with a group called the Coalition of Youth Groups in Tamale yesterday.

A group calling itself  Coalition of Youth Groups in Tamale yesterday planned a Press Conference and a subsequent Demonstration to appeal to government to revoke the appointment of the new CEO of the Tamale Teaching Hospital,Dr. Daniel Akobila and appoint a Dagomba kinsman to head the hospital.

But there were reports that the press conference, however, scuttled by the Kandahar Boys who stormed the Tamale Kalandan Park, where the news conference was being held with sticks, hammers, chains and other weapons to launch an violent attack on the organizers.

But speaking to A1 Radio’s Christopher Asima on DayBreak Upper East, Regional Secretary for the NPP said a group of people clad in NPP apparel grouped at the Kaladan park with the intention of organizing a press conference and subsequently a demonstration against the appointment of a new CEO for the sickening Tamale Teaching hospital.

He indicated that the people of Tamale and the Kandahar boys who are grassroot NPP members realized that they were imposters who wanted to paint the President black and quickly rushed to the venue where they intended to meet to stop them from doing such a thing to tarnish the image of the NPP.

When we had information that these people were wearing our dress and were going to demonstrate against the appointment of a new CEO for the Tamale hospital which has been challenged, we moved in to stop them. I tell you, no NPP member in his rightful senses will demonstrate against the President’s choice because we know the hospital’s challenges all these months and if someone is coming to work to make the place good why will we kick against him?” he asked host of Daybreak Upper East.

He said the people themselves confessed after the approached them that they are not members of the NPP and that settled the matter.

He, however, mentioned that the Police is currently investigating the case and will make the needed arrest in the due time.
