Although the music industry in the Upper East region is gradually growing, there are some talents giving out their best and ensuring that their music is given that national and International appeal.

One of such individuals is Don Max, a rapper signed unto AVINASH Entertainment; an Upper East based record label producing some great talents in that part of Ghana.

Known in real life as Don Max courted the desire to be a musician at a tender age after listening to some local and international hip hop acts

Although many think the Upper East music industry is growing at a tortoise pace, Don Max disagrees but however, acknowledges that the industry is riddled with several challenges which when addressed could help the industry grow to a much respected pedestal.

“No the music industry in the Upper East region is doing very well and is growing. However, we have challenges with production and promotions because we don’t have enough radio stations and also there is no television station here so it makes it difficult for us to promote our visuals anytime they are ready.”

In the age where social media has created several avenues for the marketing of talents and products, Don Max believes that maximizing the use of social media in the Upper East region will play a key role in helping in the growth of the industry.

He notes that social media can be adopted in place of television to help put the region’s music out there and also draw the needed attention because of the number of people who have signed on for the various social media platforms.

“We are handicapped when it comes to the coverage of our radio stations and we also do not have television stations that will be telecast our music videos but now there is social media and we need to maximize its use to our benefit. We need to work at ensuring that the world hears us through the platforms that are available to us. Social media is currently helping us to sell our brands and that is a great thing but we will have to do more,” he told the a1radioonline.com team.

Although Don Max is the brain behind AVINASH Entertainment, Don Max wish to be signed onto Black Avenue Music because to him, that is the only record label in Ghana’s music industry which focuses on the business side of music adding that he believes he will be the heavy weight rapper to be signed on to the record label.

“In Ghana I will like to be signed by Black Avenue Muzik. Black Avenue Music as a record label is admired by me because they are business minded people and that is what sweeps me off my feet. They invest in their artistes and ensure that they give out their best. Even look at Dj Breezy been a Dj look at how they are investing in him. So you know they are really serious as a labelYou know D-Black is a straight hip-hop artiste so signing me onto the label will be like a collaboration that will take Ghana by storm.”

Several pundits in the Upper East region entertainment industry have indicated that the sluggish rate at which the industry is growing is owed to the numerous “beef” between artistes but Don Max believes that “beef” is good for the industry but should never be personalized. According to him, “lyrical wars” are healthy ventures and a proof that the industry is growing but when It takes a twist and things turn around to be sour, that is so unhealthy.

He believes his music will take over the Ghana music industry, Africa and the world in the coming years.
