Legendary highlife artiste Paapa Yankson has died at age 72. The legend died at his house in Dansoman in Accra on Friday.

The last time he was seen in public was when he left his sick bed to perform at the Bottles and Bands Festival at the Polo Grounds in November 2016.

His popular songs include; Wiase Mu Nsem, Show Your Love, Wo Yere Anaa Wo Maame, and Tena Menkyen.

His son Silas Yankson in an interview indicated that his father was ill treated by Ghanaians considering the fact that he contributed immensely to Ghana’s music industry and needed to be given to be given the needed recognition.

He said: “I feel very bad anytime I’m asked about how my father was treated, I feel very very bad because what I needed to see, I didn’t see. This man was so sick and anytime I visited him and I asked if this person has visited him he says no, has this person visited you no, it was that bad; I’m telling you, he was left to his fate, he was abandoned”.
