Potable drinking water is my priority – Amenga-etego 

Member of Parliament for Chiana-Paga constituency, Rudolf Amenga-etego has announced plans to provide potable drinking water to his constituents.

According to him, all broken-down boreholes will be fixed whiles additional ones drilled to ensure people of the constituency lack no potable drinking water.

Mr. Amenga-etego who revealed this on Wednesday during a press soiree in Chiana in the Kassena-Nankana West district said aside providing drinking water to constituents, education and health care are his major three broad thematic areas if implemented will reduce poverty and enhance health delivery in the constituency.

The press soiree which was a first of its kind to be organized by a member of parliament in the Upper East Region saw Mr. Amenga-etego also outlining measures to improve the performance of education in the constituency through the provision of Information Communication Technology (ICT) libraries in the area.

“Because we are not in clustered communities, our housing is dispersed so it will allow students who may not necessarily have light in the houses and may not necessarily be endowed enough to have their own books can walk to the library and get their best books to read and also be able to browsed”

On agriculture, Mr. Amenga-etego disclosed plans to organize series of capacity building training for farmers on proper farming practices while distribution 150 knapsack to farmers to control pesticides and weedicides.

According to Mr. Amenga-etego, he aims to address basic health challenges in the constituency “for example where there is a CHPS compound and something is lacking that we can provide, whether a gadget or a machine, we will try to do it. Maybe they have a delivery bay that needs just a bed we will try to address it”

He added that he will not pretend that he will build clinics and CHPS compounds because he “don’t have the capacity”

The MP for Chiana-Paga on occasion thanked the constituents for reposing trust in him by giving him the mandate to represent them in parliament.

Some of the constituents commended him for taking the initiative to show gratitude to them after the 2016 general elections.

“I see him to be the best MP for Chiana-Paga constituency since 1992 because he remembers us. Our MP has come and repaired three boreholes for us” says Abage Osman from Kalveo Gugoro.

They also appealed to the MP to lobby to get communities yet to be connected to the national grid connected.

“The whole of Kandiga town is connected to the national grid except Lungo community, so I appeal to you MP, to do something about it” Maxwell Akanawe, an assembly member of Lungo electoral area appealed.
