U/E: Paramount Chief of Bongo adjudged Tourism personality of the year

The upper east regional director of the Ghana Tourism Authority ALhaji Hakeem Ishmael has indicated that the Paramount Chief of the Bongo traditional area, Naba Baba Salifu Alimyaaru has been nominated amongst five others for this year’s tourism awards which would be held as part of activities to mark this northern Ghana tourism and investment summit organized by the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority in partnership with the Ghana tourism authority and other state institutions in Tamale from 25th to 27th September at the modern city hotel.

The summit is aimed at positioning northern Ghana as the tourism and cultural hub of Ghana and the sub-region: challenges and prospects as well as developing the cultural heritage and the creative arts industry in northern Ghana: challenges and prospects

ALhaji Hakeem speaking to Christopher Asima host A1 radio’s morning show, Daybreak Upper East mentioned that the upper east region has named six personalities nominated for touristic awards; these personalities would be awarded on the tourism awards night which is said to take place during this investment summit. The nominees include:

Tourism Personality of the year – Naba Baba Salifu Alimyaaru (Bongo Naaba)

Women Empowerment in Tourism-Madam Milayni Kasise (Founder Sirigu Women in PoetryArt)

Tourism Investor of the Year – Mr. Emmanuel Akayete (C.E.O Akayet Hotel)

Transport of the year – V3 Shuttle Busses

Travel and Tour of the year – V3 Shuttle Busses

Tourism Site of the Year – Zinga Crocodile pound

Alhaji Hakeem also indicated that the region has a number untapped tourism sites which the regional tourism authority would be presenting to investors for support at the northern Ghana Tourism investment and promotion summit.

The summit which end on the 27th of September, the set to mark World Day for Tourism is set to have His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Adu Dankwa Akofo Addo to be the special guest of Honor.
