The Minister for Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku has said the Creative Arts Council will in the coming days visit the various regions to enlist all actors in the Creative Arts sector.

According to her, the move is part of government’s initiative to set up a creative arts fund.

Speaking to A1 Radio’s Kofi Asante, She indicated that the creative arts industry is a bigger industry and is not limited to just music and movies and therefore there will be the need for a database on persons who are in the industry for equal and fair distribution of the fund if it’s set up in the future.

She indicated that the New Patriotic Party believes in using data rather than just selecting a few people who will be made to enjoy the fund while others who are playing key roles are left behind.

She said “Before you build a house, you should have a plan. You cannot build a house without a plan. We are not like the NDC that will say Ayariga take two million and give it to the media and it will disappear. No, we are not like that. We have to have feasibility studies.  Are we giving this money for aged revisions, artistes or actors. How many stakeholders are in the sector? If you don’t do these things you will create money for some people to just chop”.

She indicated that it is imperative that the Creative Arts Council will undertake a stakeholder consultation in order to have a strong database of the creative arts industry indicating that Mark Okraku Mantey will announce a meeting with stakeholders across the country in order to get database for the industry.
