Ghanaian rapper, Obrafour has said his latest song, “kasahari” was not meant to look down on any rapper but to address the failures of the art of rap in Ghana currently and the need for rappers in the country to sit up and produce thought provoking contents.

According to him, the current rapper do not talk about anything in their raps and that hurts him as a pioneer in the industry.

“The sort of statement I made with the Kasahari song, if we have to be honest with ourselves, the current rapper don’t seem to talk about anything. There is no substance in their songs and in their rap. There is no message in the songs. I have said times without number that songs should carry message so when rapper forget message in songs and songs are all beat driven, you lose the purpose,” he told Kofi Asante.

He indicated that although the founders of hiplife did not position hiplife, he and his peers including Akyeame positioned hiplife and made their songs portray the culture of the country.

He indicated that currently, songs produced are vulgar and only about how some rapper wants to use some part of a lady’s body.

Obrafour indicated that in his song, he commended Sarkodie rather than condemned him because Sarkodie is the one that hiplife has chosen but Ghanaians misconstrued his lyrics and said he was condemning the rapper who is touted as the best in the industry.
